As an executive secretary for Bangladesh Water Partnership, Mukta Akter helps to raise awareness and build capacity through programs related to water, climate change, and environment in order to enable women and youth at the community level to reduce impacts of climate change and ensure water and food security. During her fellowship in the United States, she expects to improve her knowledge and leadership capacity on women and youth education and empowerment, specifically to promote gender equity in order to help her be a change agent for mobilizing her community to improve its livelihood. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Akter plans to develop and implement a project for improving access to water supply for the coastal communities to bring a qualitative change in their lifestyle, especially for women.
