Musa Soko
As Executive Coordinator of the Youth Partnership for Peace and Development, Musa Soko manages several programs that seek to tackle the issues of gender-based and domestic violence within some Sierra Leonean communities. During his fellowship, Soko worked with the Shelter for Abused Women and Children in Naples, Florida. In addition to supporting the organization’s outreach and programmatic efforts, Soko has provided guidance and recommendations to the Shelter on the ways in which they can more effectively engage religious institutions in order to better address domestic violence in Floridian communities. Upon returning to Sierra Leone, Soko managed vocational training programs for female victims of domestic violence, seeking to increase their economic independence in order to decrease their vulnerability to abuse and violence.
