Nia Kapitanova
Nia is a program coordinator for Global Solutions at IREX. In her role, Nia supports the implementation of program activities for the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge and Global Solutions Conversations and carries out a variety of administrative and logistic tasks, including outreach to faculty participants, program onboarding, and participant management.
Prior to joining IREX, Nia interned at the European Neighbourhood Council, researching development projects in Central Asia funded by China and the EU and brainstorming ideas on mutual connectivity between the powerhouses. She was also a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship in Bulgaria, teaching English to over 700 high school students, and supported international education students as an administrative assistant at Syracuse University. Nia has also worked as a Spanish analyst for a government contract agency, assisting in transcription and translation.
Nia holds a master’s in international relations from Syracuse University, a master’s in international affairs from the Hertie School in Berlin, Germany, and a bachelor’s in Spanish language and culture from Georgia State University. She is fluent in Bulgarian, Spanish, and French, can speak German, and has picked up some Arabic and Italian through her travels and studies.
