Currently pursuing a master’s degree in peace and conflict resolution at the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan, Nixon Nembaware previously served as the Gender and Equity Advisor at Concern Worldwide where he managed program quality control, focusing on the mainstreaming and integration of gender in poverty alleviation and women’s empowerment projects. During his CSP fellowship, Nixon worked with the Women’s Crisis Support Team in Grants Pass, Oregon, facilitating an anti-violence group program for high school-aged students aimed at building healthy communities and stopping violence. Upon his return to Zimbabwe, Nixon focused on starting a “silent victims” campaign, which targeted men and drew attention to the issue of domestic violence by placing silhouettes and stories of domestic violence victims in bank lobbies. Presently, he is working on his thesis and also doing gender and development consultancy work with Development Dynamix, a consulting organization he formed with colleagues.
