Norma Subuyuj
Norma works in the Arts & Culture sector leading Textiles Nakoj. The fellow is an administrator and leads a group of Mayan weavers who produce color fading cotton centerpieces, placemats, napkins, and tablecloths by hand. These products can be used as elegant decorations that support Mayan culture. They also benefit the environment when used in place of disposable products. Textiles Nakoj’s customers include foreigners between the ages of 45 and 60 years old who are interested in Mayan culture, like to shop online, and are often looking for souvenirs or ornaments to display a piece of Mayan culture in their homes. Coming to the YLAI Fellowship, Norma’s top business challenge is Finance.
