Obert Samba
As a transgender person who has worked in the field of HIV and human rights, focusing specifically on transgender people, men who have sex with men (MSM) and female sex workers in Papua New Guinea, Obert Samba is a trans activist with over years of experience ensuring health services free from stigma and discrimination, and advocating for the rights of transgender people, MSM, and sex workers. During the fellowship in the United States, Samba intends to learn more about human rights advocacy as a transgender person, management skills, and to be a great activist for LGBTI people in Papua New Guinea. After returning home from the Community Solutions Program, Samba will conduct human rights and HIV trainings to transgender people, MSM, and female sex workers.
