Africa, Ghana, Primary and Secondary Education, 2013

Rebecca Eisenberg taught social studies in Oregon and Virginia since 2003. She currently teaches junior Honors United States and Virginia History and senior International Baccalaureate Topics at South Lakes High School. Rebecca is a CAS adviser and runs an after school tutoring program for at-risk students. She also has extensive training in and has provided staff development around standards-based learning and formative assessments. By participating in TGC, Rebecca used the skills and knowledge obtained through her international field experience to create and implement a globalized curriculum within her classes – cross-curricular and school-wide – which provided students with unique opportunities to learn about and participate in world affairs.

Rebecca Eisenberg created her Global Education Guide to provide teachers with the resources to adopt Global Education practices and become global education leaders. She includes a unit plan on War and Peace where students investigate the question: β€œIs Peace Possible?” Students study multiple world conflicts. They consider the major causes of conflict, how conflict and war differ, and if they believe there will be another major war in their lifetime? Rebecca traveled to Ghana on her International Field Experience and she provides a collection of resources on her travel blog.
