Remzi Lani is executive director of the Albanian Media Institute and a long‐time advocate for greater professionalism and media freedom in Albania and South Eastern Europe. He was the first president of a network of media institutions in the region, and founder of the Forum for Human Rights in Albania. He is a member of the board of the World Association of Newspapers and has participated in a range of international media freedom advocacy efforts. Earlier in his career, he was chief editor of the Albanian newspaper Zeri i Rinise, and a correspondent for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
