Samar Shalhoub
As an instructor at the Lebanese School of Social Work at Saint-Joseph University, Samar Shalhoub teaches a course entitled “how to create social events.” She has worked for over 9 years in the Child Protection field on community-based projects with local and international organizations in Lebanon and Arab countries. Shalhoub has worked closely with children and youth, using her musical talents to create events in which they proclaim their rights through song. Being a pianist and a vocalist has helped her to create a bond between civil society and vulnerable communities. All the music projects Shalhoub has led have aimed to encourage youth affected by war, or who are living in the shadows of a violent past, to actively participate in peacebuilding activities. Her events and concerts target caregivers, parents, and politicians. Since completing the CSP program, Shalhoub has been assigned the position of Internship Coordinator, charged with overseeing 1st year Special Education undergraduates. She is also working to develop a leadership curriculum for young social workers in order to improve their potential and increase the quality of their work. Watch Samar Shalhoub’s video portfolio.
