Shusmita Khan works at Eminence, an evidence-based Bangladeshi organization working with special emphasis on community-based approaches to solve social issues in a sustainable manner. Her area of interest and focus revolves around nutrition transition, non-communicable diseases, and population dynamics. As a part of her job, she conducts research, implements projects and organizes scientific seminars and conferences focusing on her areas of focus. As a CSP fellow at Community Cradle in Albany, New York, Khan conducted a nutrition education needs assessment in the Burmese refugee community living in Albany. With this information, Khan prepared a curriculum and trained service providers working with the refugee communities in nutrition education. Upon return to Bangladesh, she started a women-led health center to help low income women in Dhaka access health-care in a safe and culturally acceptable environment.
