Susan Mwape is the Founder and Executive Director of Common Cause Zambia (CCZ), an organization that seeks to promote citizens participation in various governance processes. Prior to that, Mwape was National Coordinator of the Civil Society African Peer Review Mechanism Secretariat, an initiative that seeks to foster political stability, economic growth, and sustainable development. As a CSP fellow at Common Cause Georgia, Mwape helped the organization to initiate the “Ethics Ambassador” pilot program, which engages activists at the local level to serve as volunteers who are trained to shine a spotlight on local ethics issues and act as coordinators for grassroots mobilization in their legislative districts. Upon returning Zambia, Mwape established Common Cause Zambia as part of her follow-on project. She has been working with local and international partners in trying to build small local democracy groups to increase community participation in resource tracking, monitoring and evaluating Zambia's implementation of its APRM National Program of Action, and engaging with the 16 days of Activism for the past 2 years.
