Tamar Chugoshvili, Georgia, was elected in 2010 as chairperson of the Georgia Young Lawyers Association, the front line for defense of journalists’ rights in the country. The organization provides legal counseling and court representation to journalists, operates a network of Media Legal Defense Centers, works on access to information issues, and prepares and lobbies for amendments in the laws to make Georgia’s legislative and regulatory environment more conducive to media. A fearless advocate for media freedom, she is also an expert in Freedom of Information laws.
