Tarek Atia
A journalist and early online innovator in Egypt in the late 1990s, Tarek Atia has spent the last five years working with the Egyptian media sector to introduce multimedia approaches and World Press Freedom Day 2011 Fellows strengthen professional standards. As the training director for the Media Development Program in Egypt, funded by USAID, he has designed and implemented capacity building programs for more than 4,000 journalists, editors and mangers working across print, broadcast and online platforms. He now heads the new media training consultancy E‐MDP, which offers professional development and management consulting services to the Egyptian media sector. Formerly, he was an editor at Al Ahram Weekly.
