As the Volunteer Programs Corps Member of Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, New York City, Touhidul Chowdhury forms community services teams; conducts volunteer training and monitoring; develops content for the weekly volunteer newsletter; and engages with volunteer leaders and general volunteers regarding service opportunities across New York City. While in the U.S., Chowdhury worked with Colorado Common Cause (CCC) in Denver, Colorado, where he worked on communications and advocacy material development to ensure open and accountable governments, prepared databases for the mail ballot plan and polling locations and disseminated to the voters, and conducted fundraising initiatives. Now in New York City, Chowdhury has prepared a policy brief to be published by Water Integrity Network (WIN) to showcase issues of corruption to the policymakers in Bangladesh and South Asia and is working for the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean immigrant communities in the NYC Jackson Heights area through volunteering with Chhaya Community Development Corporation to improve the quality of life of immigrant communities by uplifting their economic situation and educating them of their rights.
