Valmiki works in the health sector as the Marketing Director of Eye Assist Optical. For people with vision problems, Eye Assist Optical is an eye care company that provides eye exams and glasses fittings and donates up to $1,000 to selected schools to help less fortunate students obtain sufficient eye care. The company offers a comprehensive eye exam to help customers determine the cause of their poor vision. Valmiki’s short-term goal is to expand Eye Assist Optical to other CARICOM islands. The long-term goal is to make the company a global brand and a renowned facility for medical tourism. Valmiki also aims to make eye care more accessible to those in need without affecting the company’s financial performance. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Valmiki’s top business challenge is Scaling and Expansion. More specifically, they want to learn how to source and train talent to grow the company. During the Fellowship Placement, Valmiki hopes to gain knowledge and the ability to solve Eye Assist Optical’s current and potential issues.
