Whitney Hough
Whitney Hough is a Deputy Project Director for Fulbright Teacher Exchange Programs at IREX. In her role, Whitney provides strategic and administrative oversight in the implementation of the Fulbright Teacher Exchanges. She manages planning and day-to-day operations, provides financial oversight, and contributes to the technical aspects of programming and evaluation for international teacher programs.
Whitney has nearly 15 years of combined, progressive experience in the education and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining IREX, Whitney worked for The N.U.in Program at Northeastern University, where she coordinated intercultural exchange programs for first-semester university students and developed international service-learning programming across Australia, Costa Rica, Ireland, Greece, and the UK. Previously, Whitney worked with the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) on initiatives to protect teachers and students in conflict-affected areas. Her professional experience also includes service with AmeriCorps in Minneapolis public high schools, where she designed and implemented curricula related to civic engagement, social justice, and human rights.
Whitney has a master’s degree in Conflict, Security and Development from the University of Bradford UK, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Cross Cultural Studies from Carleton College. She is a current doctoral student in Comparative and International Education at Teachers College, Columbia University
