As Project Coordinator for the Assistance Organization for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Yael Orgal coordinates education and integration programs for asylum seekers in Israel. She supports the organization’s assistance hotline, Hebrew language lessons, after school programs, and a women’s support group. Orgal is also responsible for recruiting and training volunteers and supporting the organization’s advocacy efforts to increase awareness of the asylum seeker population in Israel. While in the U.S., Orgal concentrated on fighting xenophobia and increasing support for ethnic minorities at Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services in New Haven, Connecticut. Now returned to Israel, Orgal is expanding upon her organization’s education programs for asylum seekers and organizing community dialogue sessions as an awareness tool.
