As the Parliamentary Advisor of Congress of the Republic of Perú, Abel Hurtado Espinoza drafts bills to promote and strengthen political participation of women, reaches consensus between the political parties in the Parliament to pass bills, and promotes women’s rights to live free of all forms of violence. While in the U.S., Hurtado Espinoza worked with National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) in Washington D.C., where he helped strengthen the organization's capacity to engage on an international platform and broaden its relationship with different indigenous organizations and shared the NCAI experience and framework with other indigenous organizations in South America. Since his return to Peru, Hurtado Espinoza is working to pass a bill regarding  the prohibition of political violence against women in order to enforce and promote women's participation in politics.
